Christmas with Bima: Venice and Rome

Venice with Grandma. The children's favorite part was still to feed those pigeons

Grandma didn't care for those birds to be landing on her head:)

Woohoo mom! Look at me!

Sleepy little one.  He was glad to be on Mommy's lap, at this point.  I was glad to be sitting with a nice cup of coffee.

 Love this family!
My two little cuties!

Keep warm now, don't get cold.

Love that Bima!
Smile!
In the Metro, walking to our apartment in Rome.

Found it:)  We were staying next to the Spanish steps.  Perfect place to stay because all the places we wanted to visit  was within walking distance.
Breakfast in Rome.  Good hot chocolate.  As you can see it's all over the table cloth.  You can always tell where the Williams have been.  Love this chocolate smile.  Italian hot chocolate has a thicker consistency and isn't as sweet as what we Americans drink.  The children would put a packet of sugar in theirs with a bit of milk.  Ahhhhhhh, yummy, yummy.
Tea room.
I really enjoyed eating at this little Tea Room.  It was directly west of the the Spanish steps.  We enjoyed the food and ambience, but the price wasn't as enjoyable:)  One cup of tea was 12 euro.  Yikes!  Next time we'll look at the price BEFORE entering the building.

Mercedes lane looking towards the Spanish Steps.
Spanish Steps at Christmas time.
I liked the jelly fish above our heads.  Very unique.

I have an honest Pinnochio.

Pantheon.
The marble is what catches my eye with this picture-astounding.

The "Crib" or manger scene in the Pantheon.

Touring the Vatican. We were so tired and hungry for this tour.  You could see our faces were trying to focus and learn, but without food and coffee it sure made it difficult.  Next time we'll make sure to eat a healthy breakfast before we decide to take a two and half hour tour.
The Vatican enterance.

Famous sculpture by Michelangelo "The Pieta".
The Vatican guards.

The famous Tiber river.

We like donating to musicians on the streets.  We thought this was rather creative in earning his money.
James thought this trick was "cool".

This tree was made out of metal purses.  They had some celebration just before we arrived.  We got their just in time for the fake snow to fall.

Colosseum

Our best Gladiator look.

 Caesar's Forum

Bima and Isaac enjoying the Forum.

This was a captivating tour guide.  She grabbed the children's attention with her passion for history.  She was a tour guide not working with a company, but she was at the Forum daily bringing history to any family that would like to listen.  She  knew her history well and English was her native language.  She brought the Forum alive for us.  Her energy, excitement, and knowledge was appreciated by all of us.

The Arch of Tiberius

I know we won't remember all that we learned, but it's been an amazing learning experience for all of us.  We were so glad Bima was able to join us during this time.

 CHRISTMAS 2012

Coon skin cap and Davey Crocket.

Samantha worked hard on making this needle point for Jana.  Bima helped her finish it the day before Christmas.

"Good bye Bima. We will miss you!"
