Some of our favorite Christmas books

You never know what will happen with your stuff when traveling over seas.  I wanted to post some of our favorite Christmas books just in case they don't get back to us in the states this summer.  We love our Christmas traditions and it wouldn't be the same without some of our beloved books.  (We could do without, but it's nice sitting by the fire reading some of our favorites) We are book lovers and this is one of my favorite times- cuddling with my little ones reading a treasure.

"The Christmas Doll"  is special because we listen to a CD of the book while stringing popcorn.  We've actually only done it one year, which was three years ago, but when I asked my kiddos what their favorite tradition was this is the one they mentioned.  You never know what will spark there memory of sweet family time.

Christmas 2014

Here are a few pictures from the musical performed with the Aviano Community Theatre called "A Christmas Carol."

We decided we would paint our own ornaments this year.  I'll let you be the judge.

Every year the children are not allowed to wake us up until seven...or the bell rings.  I think their plan is that whoever wakes up first must wake everybody else up.  Once the bell rings they open the door and jump on the bed.   The Christmas story is read from the Bible while we all snuggle under warm blankets and then move downstairs to eat our Christmas breakfast (Breakfast casserole) and enjoy some much needed coffee.  The children are at war with the coffee.  Ike drinks his coffee ever so slowly while the kids badger him to hurry so we can move to the presents.  It has now become such a tradition we laugh and joke about it.  This year James decided to hide the coffee pot to see if daddy  would just not drink his coffee so they could open gifts sooner.  I think he found it back fired on him.  Ike took forever to find the coffee pot (they actually had to show him where it was) and then we had to wait for the coffee to brew and for him to drink it.  They have new plans stewing for next year. We'll see what happens.

After we opened our gifts, I found Obi under the tree taking a little snoozer.  What a cutie he is.

Stocking time.  James didn't have "new" jammies because the ones I bought were too small.   He didn't seem to mind.  He loves his t-shirts.

Isaac bought the girls some face paint for Christmas.  They used it on him to make him look like Captain America which is one of his favorite characters.

James did get a remote control flying bird.  You can't tell by the picture that it's a flying bird, but that's what it is.   You see the abandoned building to the right?  Yep, the bird flew through the one hole on the roof and into that locked building.   Bye, bye birdie. We did ask our neighbors for the key but we have yet to get that bird back.  He flew it for about thirty minutes before it was a goner.
