This one is for our Grandma's

A day with the Williams- on a good day

I thought you would enjoy reading about our day today just because you haven't heard from us for awhile.
I've had a two day migraine, but this morning I woke up with the children ready and willing to help.   Jana offered to make breakfast, James came up to my room numerous times and asked if I needed anything, and Samantha wrote me a sweet get well card, Isaac, well, I 'm not exactly sure what he did but I do know the play room is full of legos...all over the floor.  I am blessed to be a mommy of four beautiful children who are willing to pull together as a team when one is down.  After the medicine kicked in I felt a bit better.  They finished their Math so I thought today would be a great day to finish the movie "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang." (We only watched half last week.)  We just finished reading the book and observing how Ian Fleming uses parenthesis throughout the book.  We even tried writing our own stories using parenthesis. (I will post those later.)  I thought they turned out pretty well.  Anyway, we finished watching the movie and discussed the difference between plot and climax.  (Hoping maybe one day it will stick.) And decided it was time for lunch.

Since I was feeling better and it was a gorgeous day, we decided to go for a picnic.  We needed the exercise after watching a movie.  Samantha helped make lunch, while Jana finished washing the dishes that didn't get washed well enough this morning and James and Isaac put the recycle where it was suppose to go.  Wow, things seem to be running smooth today.  I like this.

Isaac thought he needed to read "The Mouse and the Motorcycle" while going on a walk.  Hmmmmm, we'll see how that goes.

Yep, he dropped it in the mud and guess who had to carry it home. Me.

We have a cheerful helper, for the time being.

Enjoying being out in the sunshine!

Looking for that deer in the bushes.

These are the shoes my two darling girls decided to wear on a hike in the middle of December.

Her feet were freezing by the time we got home.

This is what they should be wearing:)
Love those girls of mine!

It was worth the freezing toes because they saw this beautiful horse on our hike.

Once we got home we had to celebrate National Brownie day.  Of course, the "healthy" kind of brownies:)  They were delicious!  (Snuck a little math in there too.  Shsh don't tell)

We then began to work on our frescoes. (Cardboard covered with spackling paste.)  We are studying Giotto, an Italian artist, this month and decided to try our very own fresco.  You will see more of our study next post.  We tried to show people with emotion and the use of background, something Giotto was known for in bringing to the art culture during his time.

Isaac started to draw a picture he remembered looking at in a book about Giotto.  I was impressed he remembered the painting.  It was a picture of Herod killing all the babies out of jealousy.  I was a bit disturbed knowing this is what he remembered and wanted to draw, but it ended up with the people being sad and throwing snow balls at Herod to save the babies.   He then got a little bored and just decided to scribble.  At the bottom you will see how it turned out.  (The end result makes this mama's heart not so worried)

Samantha and Jana drew the emotion of happiness.

James drew a happy boy playing in the sand. You always say how you want more pictures of me, well this will have to do.  A picture I am trying to draw.  I tried to copy a piece from Giotto himself, a picture of Mary and Jesus.  I changed it up a bit to show my own worldview though.

Painting is fun!  Isaac sat there the longest and worked on his masterpiece.  I was so proud of his ability to stay focused for such a long time.  He did not want to leave until every bit of that fresco was painted.

This is his end product...a rainbow.

My unfinished fresco.  I needed to start making dinner.  I hope I can finish it tomorrow.

This is a Christmas picture Samantha drew.  Thought you would want to see it.

Most days we include more book studies, but today was a relaxed day due to my migraine.  I think we learned much today on service, good brownie making, plot and climax, Giotto, and frescoes.  Ended with Ike coming home early and us watching another movie called "A Christmas Carol."   Wasn't completely accurate with the book, but it was fun discussing the differences.

I have a few more posts on there way.  I still want to post about our trip to the states but it will need to wait.
