Thanksgiving fun 2013

This is our oven filled with love gifts.  We wanted to surprise our small group with homemade pumpkin bread and pumpkin butter.  Can you smell the deliciousness?

James needed to make a gift for his cub scouts.  This cute little turkey was the gift he chose to make.   James learned how to make them and then told us what to do.  He put us in an assembly line, each with a special job. By the time we hit ten turkeys we were ready to give up, but we didn't and persevered to make twelve all together.

School time!

First time making pumpkin puree.  Next time we will try and find those special sugar pumpkins, the puree we made was a little watery.

We try and put up a thankful tree every year.  This year we decided to make a huge one.  Every night we write on a leaf what we are thankful for and tape it to our tree.  At the end of the month we have a tree full of thankful leaves.

Samantha wrote our verse down.

Munich, Germany Oktoberfest

We went to Munich, Germany to "Oktoberfest".  Basically it's a big fair full of tents with German food, beer and fair rides.  Oktoberfest is known for it's fun atmosphere, amazing beer, and good food.  It sure was fun touring around with three of our amazing couple friends.

When we got there, we thought we could go into one of the beer tents, grab a seat and order some food, little did we realize you were suppose to reserve a seat.  Squeezing past all the people as we entered "our first beer house" made us realize we should have reserved ahead of time.  Well, we were glad to actually "see" the inside of the beer house and experience the singing and enjoyment of distinctive food, it sure would have been better if we could have actually tasted the food that we heard so much about, but still glad to experience it in some way.  Nonetheless, we enjoyed standing (literally standing while eating) outside of the beer house at some little food joint, eating some kind of meat with some kind of rice.  It was food that filled the tummy and we thought dinner would be much better, the famous Hofbrauhaus House. I would have to say dessert was the yummiest part of our lunch, but it's hard to beat chocolate covered strawberry's and grapes on a stick.  Yummy!  After walking around and looking at all the different beer houses and ginormous horses carrying barrels of beer, we decided to try some of the rides.  It was so expensive we went on two rides and walked around the rest of the time.  Once finished with rides, we walked around and found the Hofbrauhaus House.  It was worth the walking and definitely worth the exhaustion to get there.  Dinner was amazing and the atmosphere was just as pleasant.  What great way to end the day!

 The Hofbrauhaus House! Yummy!

This was on our way to the Hofbrauhaus House.  When the clock struck at every full hour the little people would move around the circle.

Look at those hoofs.

Mmmm, chocolate covered grapes and strawberries.

This was inside of one of the beer tents.  Waiting for a place to sit, but didn't get to sit.

Exhausted children thankful the men stopped to drink a beer so we could keep use the restroom and take a break.

My pictures ended up backwards and a little fuzzy.  I guess I'm still learning how to blog well:)
